Privacy

This site has no cookies, no ads and no tracking. The game talks to it once to hand out the free spots, and when you send feedback.

What the game sends

When DEADWATT starts, it sends our server:

• A code for your PC. The game turns your PC's device ID into a one-way hash before sending it. The ID itself never leaves your PC, and the hash can't be turned back into it.
• The game version, so the game can tell you when an update is out.
• Your Steam name and Steam ID, if Steam is running (from version 1.8.3). We use them to know who holds which spot, so the Steam keys for the first players reach the right people.

What we keep

• The PC code, your spot number, the game version, your Steam name and Steam ID (if Steam was running), and when the spot was claimed and last used.
• A one-way hash of your IP address, mixed with a secret, used only to stop one network from claiming lots of spots in a day. We don't keep the IP address itself.
• For the first 25 players: the Steam key reserved for that spot.

We use this only to run the free spots, the update notice and the Steam keys (including contacting you on Steam about your key). We don't sell or share it. It is stored with Cloudflare, which hosts this site.

Feedback

From version 1.9.2 the game has a FEEDBACK button. It sends nothing until you press SEND. Then it sends the message you typed, the game version and where you were in the game (for example "Dead End, round 7"). The window shows these details before you send.

We keep the message with those details, and it is also posted to a private Discord channel that only the developer reads. Don't put anything private in it. To stop floods, a counter allows a few messages per network a day; it is keyed to a one-way hash of your network that changes every day, and we don't keep the IP address.

How long

Until the free version is retired after the Steam launch. Then we delete it.

Your rights

You can ask what we hold about your PC, or ask us to delete it. Deleting it frees your spot. Contact us on our Discord or by email, if one is listed on the home page. You can also complain to your data protection authority.
